A Christian Zombie
A Zombie is a dead walking body, so how can there be such a thing as a “Christian Zombie”? Well I’ll call a “Christian Zombie” a dead walking Christian. Let me explain it: A dead walking Christian goes to church (the temple) but he himself is not the temple of God. A dead walking Christian sings Christians songs but doesn’t worship God. A dead walking Christian reads the Bible only when he is in a Bible Study. A dead walking Christian does not reach others with the message of salvation. A dead walking Christian loves the world more than God. A dead walking Christian let his emotions and impulses take over his decisions. Are the majority of Christians like that? Well we gain nothing by just pointing out a problem but we gain a lot if we reach out for the solution.
First Jesus made you alive!!! “…God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions” (Ephesians 2:4-5). If you truly repented from your sins you are alive my brother, Jesus has cleaned and forgave your sins. This mean that your position has change, once you were dead, now you are alive.
Second even though you might look like a dead Christian you are not dead, you are just sleepy “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14). A lot of the bad habits are just laziness, you have been sleepy so is time to wake you up. How many of us need a loud alarm to wake up? God has his own alarm to wake us up and to grab our attention such a problem or a difficulty, it might be that God is shaking you up to make you respond and understand that you need to wake up and grow in your relationship with him.
Third you no longer live; but Christ lives in you “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God” (Galatians 2:20). It is time to die to our selves, to die my dreams, to die my personals goals, to die my desires and to live for God’s desires, to live for God’s dreams. Are God’s goals greater than mine? Yes because God’s goals are eternal. The greatest battle lies within us. Let’s not feed our selfish desires any longer but instead lets surrender our lives to the one who gives us life in the first place.
Let’s be alive for Christ so we can shine the love of God in our schools, our churches, let’s be alive for God so that our youth services will be excited and powerful, let be alive with the power of the Holy Spirit which is the source of life. God bless you North Region Conference Youth.
